Remember to treat your jewelry as precious as the stones and metal actually are! This is the best way to keep your pieces looking great and lasting for years to come.
Each stone has a different level of hardness and there are various ways to clean them. An ultrasonic is appropriate for the hardest stones, which include diamonds, rubies, and sapphires. Softer stones (which include but are not limited to: garnet, labradorite, moonstone, tourmaline, amethyst, aquamarine, topaz, citrine, peridot, etc.) can be cleaned with water and a soft toothbrush, or a soft cloth. This method also works for the metal in the pieces, with the exception of sterling silver, which will naturally tarnish over time and with wear. For sterling silver, use a soft polishing cloth to brighten the metal.
While wearing, avoid direct contact with salt water, cleaning agents, and chlorine. Remove your jewelry before showering, and avoid extreme moisture or heat. If you wear lotions or perfumes, apply them before you put on your jewelry so as not to saturate your piece with the products' ingredients.
Store in an air-tight, resealable bag, separate from other pieces to prevent tangling, oxidation, stone or metal scratching, and accidental liquid spills.
